Capsule Geology

The Williams occurrence is located immediately southwest of the junction of Williams Creek and Stouts Gulch, approximately 5.2 kilometres southeast of the community of Wells.

The area lies within the Barkerville terrane of the Omineca Belt. The Barkerville terrane is in thrust contact with Triassic Quesnel terrane rocks to the west and Hadrynian to Lower Paleozoic Cariboo terrane rocks to the east. The Barkerville terrane in this region is underlain by the dominantly metasedimentary rocks of the Hadrynian to Lower Paleozoic Snowshoe Group. In this area the Snowshoe Group comprises limestone, phyllite and quartzite. These rocks have been regionally metamorphosed to greenschist facies.

Locally, gold-bearing quartz veins have been identified by diamond drilling.

In 2019, diamond drilling yielded intercepts of 27.30, 11.17, 12.23 and 40.10 grams per tonne gold over 0.80, 1.00, 2.80 and 0.80 metres, respectively, over separate intervals extending from 148.20 to 408.30 metres down hole in hole BM-19-013 and 5.17 grams per tonne gold over 2.25 metres (446.05 to 448.30 metres down hole) in hole BM-19-015 (Beausoleil, C., Pelletier, C. [2020-10-05]: NI 43-101 Technical Report and Mineral Resource Estimate for the Cariboo Gold Project, British Columbia, Canada).

Work History

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Bonanza Ledge (MINFILE 093H 140) occurrence and a complete regional exploration history can be found there.
